The VST-AU Virus Editor™ is a real-time MIDI synth editor that allows you full control of every parameter of the sound on the Access Virus™ A, B and C synthesizers. It is also an advanced librarian tool that allows you to view, edit, arrange and manage all the parameter, patch and bank data on modern computing platforms and applications, in smart and efficient ways. Now you can utilize your Virus to its full potential in new and interesting ways, and build lasting and meaningful patches that will bring new life to your music.

You can manage, view and edit all your patches on the computer itself without the hassle of manual dumps. All parameters are fully automatable using your favorite VST or AU capable DAW host, giving you the ability to visually program the Virus to your music in the host sequencer. This ability to model your synth patches in real-time, inside your main music production environment is part of what makes the VST-AU Virus Editor™ unique when compared to other hardware synth editors. You may also use the standalone application if you do not need to work inside the host or if your DAW host is not supported. Please check the DAW Host Support chart below for details.

  • Save as standard .fxp/.fxb files or native .syx file format.

MIDI Input and Output Monitoring

The Midi Monitor view allows you to view all MIDI data coming in to and out of the VST-AU Virus Editor™ . Easily switch between Input and Output views of both Host and Editor/Synth MIDI input and output data. You can even copy the data from the event logs for pasting and saving into standard text editors or other applications. Click the 'View Product Screens' link above to see what this view looks like.

MIDI Setup

The VST-AU Virus Editor™ is based on an entirely new framework that allows you to select the MIDI input and output ports directly from within the editor itself. This allows you to send and receive MIDI system exclusive data, a feature not found in most VST-AU hosts or our previous product offerings. You are no longer limited by host system exclusive in-capabilities.

MIDI Setup allows you to filter specific MIDI messages from all MIDI data paths from the DAW host, Editor and Synth. Absolute control of the data paths allow for complex MIDI setups that can be saved and loaded for specific applications. By using specific MIDI Setups for different instances of the plug-in, you can now use multiple instances of the plug-in for multiple machine control. Click the 'View Product Screens' link above to see what this view looks like.

Version History:

The VST-AU Virus Editor™ occasionally has changes to keep it up to date and bug free. The following is a list of changes since the software's inception.

Version Release Date Update
Release 2.0.2 08-210-2014
  1. Added 'Analog 1' through 'Analog 4' to Filter 1 Mode per 6.5 OS.
  2. Filter 1 and Filter 2 Modes are now spelled out.
  3. Modified labels for Drop downs.
  4. Fixed drop downs for audio settings. Options are now visible.
Release 2.0.1 02-24-2014
  1. Changed default settings for MIDI Setup/Editor MIDI In Poly Pressure and Aftertouch settings to 'On' position so Editor can respond to Virus Poly Pressure messages.
  2. Fixed Phaser/Stages parameter range (was 0-6, now 0-5. removed 'Off' position in GUI as it is not present on synth).
  3. On instantiation of software; now properly loads, displays, and sends the data for the initial patch to the synth.
  4. Fixed 'Send Patch to Synth' and 'Send Bank to Synth' features. It was sending the wrong MIDI channel and Bank byte values. Note- If you have selected anything other than Bank A in the Editor (banks B-H), these functions will set the patch/bank to bank B. Bank A to Bank A. Banks C-H on the Virus are not writeable, so those are not available to write to. Changed the MIDI channel to use the MIDI Omni mode (setting hex value 0x10, which equals 16 decimal = OMNI mode).
  5. Fixed Mod Matrix Assign 4 - 6 parameters. All poly pressure numbers for Mod Assign 4-5 (Source, Dest, and Amount parameters for each) were incorrectly labeled in the original Access Virus OS 5 User Manual MIDI spec. These should be poly pressure messages 103-111 (not 102-110). Software has now been modified to account for this user manual MIDI spec error.
  6. Fixed the Assign 6 Source option list. It is now the same list as the other Mod Assign sources.
  7. Changed the GUI for OSC 2 Detune to use 0 to 127 (instead of -64 to 63).
  8. Changed the GUI for OSC 3 Detune to use 0 to -127 (instead of -64 to 63).
Release 2.0.0 01-21-2014 First v2x64 release.
